Why Kraken Kratom?

• Gummies — kratom-infused gummies that are easier to take than powder and taste way better. These are newer to their lineup but they have gotten popular fast.
• Chocolate Bars — yes, really. Kratom chocolate. It sounds gimmicky but they actually taste decent and the dosing is consistent.
• Kratom Teas — pre-made tea blends for people who prefer sipping their kratom instead of toss-and-washing powder.

The point here is that Kraken is a one-stop shop. If you are the kind of person who likes having one vendor for everything — your morning powder, your occasional extract for tough days, maybe some gummies to keep in your bag for convenience — you can get it all from one place with one order and one shipping charge. That saves both money and hassle, and it is a real advantage over vendors who only sell powder or only sell capsules.

I have personally bought powders, capsules, and liquid shots from them. I tried the gummies once out of curiosity and they were decent — not my daily go-to, but handy for travel when I do not want to bring bags of powder through airport security and deal with that whole conversation.

Best Strains I've Tried from Kraken

Over seven years, I have worked through a lot of Kraken's catalog. Here are the strains and products I keep going back to and what I use each one for.

OG Bali

This is the strain that got me hooked on Kraken in the first place. OG Bali is a classic red-leaning strain that just works. It brings on a warm, full-body relaxation that starts in the shoulders and slowly spreads out from there. I reach for this one on evenings when I want to melt into the couch and let the day go. It is not as sedating as some heavy reds — you can still hold a conversation and watch a movie without passing out — but it definitely puts you in a calm, content headspace.

Effects kick in around 25 to 30 minutes and last a solid 4 to 5 hours for me at about 4 grams. I have been ordering this strain off and on for years and it has stayed remarkably consistent. That is harder to pull off than it sounds — Bali strains from other vendors have been hit or miss for me, with some batches feeling weak and others being almost too sedating. Green Maeng Da

One thing I will say — Kraken's Green Maeng Da is good, but it is not the most potent green I have ever had. Happy Hippo's moderate strains edge it out slightly in terms of raw alkaloid punch. But Kraken's version is solid, consistent, and cheaper per ounce. For daily use where I am going through product steadily, that price difference adds up.

White Maeng Da

This is my morning strain when I know I have a demanding day ahead and need real, tangible energy. White Maeng Da from Kraken is clean and fast-acting — I feel it within 15 minutes, and it gives me a bright, sharp focus that is similar to a strong cup of coffee but without the jitters or the crash two hours later.

I take it at about 3 grams on an empty stomach. Going higher than that tends to make me a little too stimulated — racing thoughts, can not sit still. At 3 grams, it is dialed in. Duration is shorter than the greens, about 2.5 to 3 hours, so sometimes I will take a second smaller dose mid-morning if I need it to carry me through to lunch. Works great paired with a half cup of coffee.

Red Borneo

My go-to nighttime strain from Kraken when I want something heavier than OG Bali. Red Borneo is a proper sedating red — the kind that makes your eyelids heavy and your body feel like it weighs twice as much. I take it about an hour before bed on nights when my mind will not shut up, and it works like a charm. The mental chatter quiets down, the body relaxes, and I drift off without tossing around for an hour.

It is also excellent for physical discomfort. On days when my lower back is really barking at me, Red Borneo at about 4.5 grams does more for me than anything else in my cabinet. The trade-off is that it can leave you a bit groggy in the morning if you take too much or take it too late. I have learned to dose it no later than 9pm to avoid the morning fog.

Lab Testing and Quality

Kraken Kratom is AKA-GMP certified. For those unfamiliar, AKA stands for the American Kratom Association, and their Good Manufacturing Practice program is the closest thing this industry has to a gold standard. To get and maintain that certification, vendors have to submit to regular third-party audits of their facility, supply chain, storage, labeling, and testing protocols. Only a small percentage of kratom vendors in the US hold this certification — most either cannot pass the audit or do not bother trying.

Every batch Kraken sells goes through independent lab testing. They screen for:

• Alkaloid content — mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine levels. This tells you how potent the batch is. Kraken's powders typically test between 1.0% and 1.6% mitragynine, which is in the normal-to-good range for commercial kratom.

One thing I want to be honest about: Kraken's powder quality is good, but I would not call it best-in-class. Their consistency is solid — I rarely get a bad batch — but the average potency of their powders falls slightly below what I get from Happy Hippo or Super Speciosa. I am on the East Coast, so that is the long end of their range. If you are anywhere in the western US, you are probably looking at 1 to 2 days. They ship Monday through Friday, and orders placed before the early afternoon cutoff typically go out the same day.

Every order comes with tracking. I have never had a package from Kraken get lost, and only once did an order take longer than expected — it got stuck in a USPS sorting facility for an extra day during the holiday rush back in December 2023. That is a carrier issue, not a Kraken issue.

Packaging is discreet. Plain brown box or padded mailer, no kratom branding on the outside. The return label shows their company name but nothing that screams "this guy is ordering kratom." • People who want one vendor for everything. Instead of ordering powder from one place, extracts from another, and capsules from a third, you can consolidate everything at Kraken. One account, one shipping charge, one vendor to deal with.
• Experienced users who know what they like. Kraken's catalog is deep, but it is not beginner-friendly in terms of guidance. If you already know your preferred strains and formats, you will find everything you need here.
• Mid-range budget buyers. If you want better quality than the cheapest vendors offer but do not want to pay Happy Hippo premium prices, Kraken hits that sweet spot.

Who Should Look Elsewhere?

• Strict budget shoppers. If lowest-possible-cost-per-ounce is your top priority and you buy in bulk, vendors like New Dawn Kratom will save you real money. Kraken is mid-range, not budget.
• People who only want the best powder. If you exclusively use plain leaf powder and you want the absolute highest potency per dose, Happy Hippo's leaf quality edges Kraken out. Kraken's powders are good, but they are not their strongest suit.
• Total beginners. Kraken's huge catalog can be intimidating if you do not already know what you are looking for. There is no effects-based categorization to guide you. A vendor like Happy Hippo with their speed system is more beginner-friendly for a first purchase.

How Kraken Compares

Each of these three vendors earns their spot in my top recommendations. Kraken wins on product variety and extracts, Happy Hippo wins on powder quality and beginner experience, and Super Speciosa wins on transparency with their QR-coded lab reports. If I had to pick just one vendor and could never use another, it would be Happy Hippo for the powder quality.
