1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Information you provide to us
- Email address. When you subscribe to our newsletter or download a free guide, we collect the email address you submit and your consent to be contacted.
- Contact form details. When you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message content you provide so we can respond to you.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Like most websites, we and our analytics provider automatically collect certain technical information, which may include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Local storage. We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences, such as your age-verification confirmation and a general location/state you may enter to check kratom legality. This information stays on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content;
- Send you the newsletter, guides, or other communications you request, and allow you to unsubscribe;
- Respond to your questions, comments, and contact-form submissions;
- Understand how visitors use the Site through aggregated analytics;
- Show relevant information based on the general location you provide (for example, kratom legality in your state);
- Detect, prevent, and address spam, abuse, security issues, and technical problems; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, and measure traffic. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent; however, some parts of the Site may not function properly without them. Disabling local storage may cause the age gate to appear on every visit.
4. Analytics
We use SnapIT Analytics to help us understand how visitors interact with the Site. This service collects aggregated and technical information such as page views, referral sources, and device information. We use this data only to analyze and improve the Site. We do not use it to identify you personally.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with trusted third parties that provide services on our behalf, such as web hosting, email delivery, cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services), and analytics. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of KratomPicks, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Affiliate Links & Third-Party Vendors
The Site contains affiliate links to third-party vendors. When you click an affiliate link and visit a vendor's website or make a purchase, that vendor and its affiliate network may collect information about you and may set their own cookies to track the referral. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit through our links. See our Disclaimer for more about our affiliate relationships.
7. Email & Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter or download a guide, we may send you periodic emails. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We process email communications in accordance with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. Even after you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still send you transactional or service-related messages in response to your requests.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. Our infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the information we hold about you, and the right to opt out of certain uses.
California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
EEA/UK residents: Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using our contact form. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Children's & Minors' Privacy
The Site is intended only for adults 21 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21, and specifically not from children under 13 as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to DNT signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.
13. International Visitors
The Site is operated in the United States. If you access it from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
15. Contact Us
